Larew's most recent collection of poems was published in 2021 by Atmosphere Press.  

 

His poems have appeared widely in online and hard-copy journals and collections in the US and beyond. Recent publication credits include appearances in Poetry South, Contemporary American Voices, Best Poetry Online, and Amsterdam Quarterly. His four earlier collections of poems are described here.

 

Nominated for four national Pushchart Prizes, his poems have placed first in competitions offered by Louisiana Literature, The Washington Review, and others. He has organized or been featured at countless readings, poetry gatherings, and conferences across the U.S., and has been interviewed on radio, on the Poet and the Poem at the Library of Congress, on blogs and elsewhere.

 

He serves as a member of the Shakespeare Folger Library’s Poetry Board, and the writing-towards-healing InkWELL’s Board of Directors, Creative Suitland’s (Maryland, USA) Community Advisory Board, and is recognized as a Poet of Excellence by the Prince George’s County Arts and Humanities Council (Maryland, USA). He also serves as a member of the Coalition for African Americans in the Performing Arts Advisory Council (Maryland, USA) and he’s an appointed member of the Prince George’s County Memorial Library System’s Board of Trustees.  

 

He has enjoyed writing residencies at the Heinrich Boll Cottage, Achill Island, Co. Mayo, Ireland, The Porches (Virginia, USA), the Virginia Center for Creative Arts (Virginia, USA), Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference (Vermont, USA), RopeWalk Writing Conference (Indiana, USA), the Bridgewater International Poetry Festival (Virginia, USA), and St. Mary’s College Poetry Workshop (Maryland, USA).  

 

His poetry papers are deposited for posterity in the George Washington University’s Gelman Library (Washington, DC, USA).
