Here are some updates during 2025's National Poetry Month --
Poems Displayed. Three of Larew's poems (To the Limit; Wilt or Stray; and Achill Sound) have been included in Poetry Downtown Rutland (Vermont, USA). This is an annual showcase of poems displayed in shop windows around town. Thanks to Bianca Zanella for the opportunity to participate. Poems Read. The Cafe Muse Poetry Reading Series, sponsored by The Word Works, invited Larew to share his work on April 7, 2025 at The Writer's Center in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Doritt Carroll and Lillo Way also read their poetry during this hybrid event. Appreciations to Henry Crawford, Ellen Cole, Karren Alenier and others who helped organize and host this reading.
Short out-takes of the three poets presenting a poem are posted on Henry's Everyday Poet blog -- Poets 3 - by Henry Crawford - Everyday Poet
Poem Published. Editors of the literary journal, Magma Poetry, included Larew's For Ready as the final poem in Issue 91. Thanks to the co-Editors, Aoife Lyall and Victoria Kennefick, for placing the poem in this UK-based magazine. The relevant website is here -- https://www.magmapoetry.com
Here are the opening lines from For Ready --
Who will go with me to Maine
All the way there and then back
For no reason ...
Believe me
Pallets of cedar are waiting
They are waving from roadsides
And whatever groceries are needed
Once there
Will get listed in pencil
Like greetings
Yes every handshake is a wool sweater
And the blue almost blinds
in Maine...
