Two Poems in Welsh Journal

Updated: Aug 3

Editor Peter Thabit Jones of The Seventh Quarry Poetry Magazine and Press published a couple of Larew's "can't sit still" poems in Issue 40. Combed Down is giddy curious about Spring. And, Travelling In is a jaunt around love's map.

And here's the final stanza of Combed Down --

But truth be told it's probably this blue kitchen stool

That comes nearest to Spring's wisdom

Because somehow it always seems to scoot its skinny legs

Over to the window

Whenever it hears the birds coming home.

And thanks to poet Mike Ratcliffe for translating the stanza into Welsh --

Ond dweud y gwir, mae hi’n ol pob tebyg mae y stol gegin glas hon

Hynny yn dod yn agosaf i doethineb y Wanwyn

Achos rhywfodd mae hi’n ymddangos bob amser symud hi coesau tenau

Dros i’r ffenestr

Pa bryd bynnag mae hi’n clywed y adar dod adref.
